Marie-Jean Meurs is an Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Quebec in Montreal UQAM, and a member of the CIRST, Canada's main interdisciplinary cluster of researchers studying the historical, social, political, philosophical and economic dimensions of science and technology.
She holds a master's degree in mathematics and a PhD in computer science. Her PhD thesis investigated machine learning approaches for natural language understanding in dialogue systems. Her research interests focus on machine learning, big data, and information retrieval for natural language processing, and their applications to health, environement and human oriendted interdisciplinary research. She contributes to the coordination of the HumanIA research groupe for humanistic and multidisciplinary studies and research on artificial intelligence, which she cofounded in 2017.
She is also a member of the Centre for Structural and Functional Genomics, Concordia University, and an Affiliate Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Concordia University.
As of 2020, she is the Scientific Director of Calcul Quebec and a member and Co-vice Chair of the Researcher Council of the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.
