In the current race for replacing petroleum based fuels with renewable biofuels, the sustainable conversion of lignocellulose into fermentable sugars for biofuel production requires the use of biological catalysts, called enzymes.

My research investigates how text mining techniques and semantic technologies can support the discovery of fungal enzymes in the context of the Genozymes project.

As a postdoctoral fellow at the Semantic Software Lab and the Centre for Structural and Functional Genomics, I play with Natural Language Processing, ontologies and semantic web services in a collaborative approach to extract and interpret relevant knowledge from the huge amount of documents available in genomics.
